Friday 1st April - Saturday 2nd April

• Premiership – Burnley v Man City [BlueSq] 17:30

Recent home form has not been great for Burnley as hopes fade. Man City can be a bit hit and miss and times but they will be under pressure for a win for top 4.

Man City @ 1.72

• Premiership – Arsenal v Wolves [BlueSq] 15:00

Arsenal look to be missing a couple of big names this week and Wolves are pretty solid as proven against Everton last week. This will be a tough test for Arsenal.

Under 2.5 goals @ 2.5

• Formula 1 – Qualifying Malaysia top 3 [BlueSq] 09:00

After a difficult time in Melbourne Lewis has a point to prove to his critics. After 2 very strong showings in practice, and the fact that Ferrari admit to be struggling this weekend, the 2008 world champion looks good for a strong qualifying session..

Lewis Hamilton @ 2.25

• Super League – St Helens v Wigan [William Hill] 15:00

The weather looks to be pointing towards a wet ground, so we expect few points in this derby clash.

Under 38 pts @ 2.1

• Super League – Hull KR v
Hull FC [William Hill] 12:45

Both teams will be looking to bounce back from last weeks defeats, in this derby clash. A close match is predicted but with the good weather we expect a fair few points to be scored.

Over 40 pts @ 1.91

Results 22nd-28th March

Overall after our first week we have had 15 tips, with profit levels at -11%. So for example, £50 on each bet, a total stake of £750 would have resulted in a deficit of £94. A disapointing week.
Our big winner this week was backing Norwich to beat an out of form Leeds side. Keep following the blog for more tips, and a return to our profit making.

Sunday 28th

• Formula 1 GP – To finish top 3 [BWin] 07:00

Having qualified 2nd, Webber is certainly the home favourite. The Red Bulls are massively quick. While Vettel is expected to run away with it, Webber is in with a good shout of a podium finish.

Mark Webber @ 1.53

• Formula 1 GP – To finish top 6 [WilliamHill] 07:00

After a strong qualifying performance Button will be full of confidence, especially as Lewis is struggling this weekend.

Jensen Button @ 1.44

Saturday 27th Afternoon/Evening

• Football Premiership – Tottenham v Portsmouth [BWin] 15:00

Tottenham are unbeaten in 8 straight games, whilst Portsmouth have been letting goals in for fun recently, especially away from home. It should be an easy win for Spurs, and expect a fair few goals too.

Tottenham to score in both halves @ 2.00

• Football Premiership – Wolves v Everton [SkyBet] 15:00

Whilst both teams are on a bit of a role Everton are an under rated side with some sterling away performances including a 2-0 win at Man City. They will really fancy their chances at Wolves, especially with a spot in European football in their sights.

Everton @ 2.1

• Football League One – Norwich v Leeds United [Expert.com] 15:00

Norwich have had a great string of results recently, whereas the opposite can be said of Leeds. The away team are going into this clash as underdogs, and with the wounds of recent form we can expect a win for Norwich.

Norwich @ 2.05

• Super League – Salford v Hull [Ladbrokes] 17:00

Salford are currently the poorest team in Super League, their 36-6 loss to an average Wakefield side last week further emphasising this. Tonight they come up against an eperienced and clinical Hull FC side, led around the park by Sean Long. Again expect the Hull forward pack to dominate with Fitzgibbon & O'Meley and the points to be racked up.

Hull (-10) @ 1.9

• Super League – Catalans v Hull KR [Bet365] 19:30

There is continued talk of unrest in the Catalans camp & coach Kevin Walters must be close to going, could this be the match they turn it around?? The expected return of captain & talisman Thomas Bosc could prove crucial and they posses a forward pack to rival any in the competition. Hull KR however are coming off an away win against Leeds, looking to push on up the table. Their forward pack will be suited to the conditions and more able to give the quick play the ball the team thrive on. Expect a tight match, but Hull KR have always performed well in France & their greater squad unity should pull them through.

Hull KR (-2.5) @ 2.00

Saturday 27th

• Formula 1 qualifying – To qualify top 3 [BlueSq] 06:00

Alonso is arguably one of the best drivers on the grid and he is in one of the top cars out there. A hot tip to get pole, the odds are looking good for a top 3 in qualifying.

Fernando Alonso @ 1.83

Friday 26th

• IPL – Rajasthan v Deccan [Ladbrokes] 14:30

Two team which are difficult to split, both with Australian captains in Warne & Gilchrist. Although i think Warne is the better captain & would win any tactical battle, the toss is crucial & Deccan will bat first. With their batting line up & the return of Laxman, Deccan should triumph although I believe Rajasthan have the better bowlers, pressure will tell during their run chase.

Deccan @ 1.61

• Super 14 – Cheetahs v Queensland Reds [Ladbrokes] 17:10

Both teams have been hit by injuries early in the season, however the loss of Heinrich Brussouw is huge for the Cheetahs. Add this to the fact that the Reds have had their rest week & have had time to acclimatise to the conditions, negating any advantage the Cheetahs would have had.

Queensland (-1.5) @ 1.9

• Super League – Castleford v Crusaders [Ladbrokes] 20:00

Castleford are a team that is being patched up to play, now including 3 loan signings. Their opponents tonight are the improving Crusaders, led around the park by the excellent kicking game of Michael Witt. The lack of cohesivness in the Castleford side will in my view contribute heavily to the result.

Crusaders (+8) @ 1.9

Midweek Results

So far this week we have had 5 tips and 3 winners in Chelsea (5-0), West Brom (1-0) & Ipswich-Plymouth ending 0-2, giving a 60% strikerate. Currently however we have only broken even for the week. Roll of the weekend and the big profits.

Wednesday 24th

• Premier League – Portsmouth v Chelsea [Ladbrokes] 19:45

Chelsea are going through a period of poor form, however expect a reaction sooner rather than later. Portsmouth will be relegated this season thanks to their financial troubles, but dont understimate the spirit within the squad. I expect this to be a tight match, especially if Chelsea continue to underperform, however i think Chelsea can ground out a routine victory. The return of Petr Cech will provide a steadying influnece behind a shaky & injury hit defence.

Chelsea (to win to nil) @ 1.8

• Championship – West Brom v Coventry [Ladbrokes] 19:45

Conventry have only lost 1 of their last six matches but now come up against 2nd placed West Brom. Coventry have failed to score on 8 of their last 10 visits to the Hawthorns, and although they may score tonight im not sure they will be able to push on for the win.

West Brom @ 1.5

• Scottish League/Cup – Celtic + Rangers [Ladbrokes] 19:45

A Rangers & Celtic double is always useful in an accumulator with both teams normally favoured to win. Tonight however we have slightly inflated odds thanks to both teams playing away from home, Rangers in the cup & Celtic in the League. Celtic will be looking to close the gap on Rangers & Rangers will be looking to get closer to another cup final.

Double @ 2.44

Tuesday 23rd

• Championship – Doncaster v Newcastle [Bet365] 19:45

Doncaster have only lost twice in their last 11 matches, while we all know Newcastle sit top of the Championship. However stories are starting to circulate that could suggest unrest in the Newcastle squad. The training ground injury suffered by captain Steven Taylor in an alleged incident with Andy Carroll would be a worry. This added to a few players missing due to minor injuries make the away win seem poor value. We do know that a Newcastle team always carries a goal threat whoever is in the lineup.

Goals (both teams to score) @ 1.8

• Championship – Ipswich v Plymouth [Bet 365] 19:45

Ipswich are a team starting find some form with 3 wins out of 4 and two recent 1-0 home victories. Plymouth are a team heading down with only one win in eight. Niether team are great goalscorers however and this is where i think the value lies today. Ipswich's have scored 21 in 19 home matches, while Plymouth have only scored 19 in their 19 away games.

Under 2.5 goals @ 1.7

Results 15th-21st March

Overall after our first week we have had 12 tips, with profit levels at 18%. So for example, £50 on each bet, a total stake of £600 would have resulted in a profit of £108. A tidy start.
Our big winner this week was clearly backing James Milner to score against Wigan and he may be one to look out for in future weeks. Keep following the blog for more great tips, and increasing profits.

Results 19th-21st March

This weekend we had 6 tips, (with Chris Gayle pulling out through sickness this bet is void), culminating in a disappointing result of 2 wins and 4 losses.

As predicted be The Spotter, Hull KR and Hull FC both triumphed on their respective handicaps on Friday. Hull KR won 17-10 at Leeds, their first win at Headingley since 1985, while Hull FC completed a routine 18-6 win over Bradford. However on Saturday & Sunday, Bet Spotters was less accurate with the tips. In the IPL Jacques Kallis was again on form leading Bangalore to a comfortable win over Mumbai, whose batting line up faltered and gave away cheap wickets regularly. On Sunday Liverpool scored early on through their main goal scoring threat Fernando Torres ruining the chance of a clean sheet for Man. United. Elsewhere Fulham failed to fight back after going behind to a fortunate early break-away goal, eventually losing 2-1 to Man. City, while Chelsea never looked in full control against Blackburn, their inability to score a second goal due to a lack of creativity contributing to the resulting 1-1 draw.

Overall this left us with our first deficit, leaving profit levels in the red at -38%. So for example, £50 bets on each of our tips would have resulted in a loss of £114.50 overall.

Sunday 21st March

• Premier League – Man Utd v Liverpool [Stan James] 13:30

Manchester United have not conceded a goal at home for nearly 700 minutes. Liverpool have not scored an away goal since January 16th. It is a very decent bet to say that Liverpool will not score in this match.

Liverpool no goals scored @ 2.1

• Premier League - Fulham v Man City [Ladbrokes] 15:00

Head to had 7 out of 13 clashes have ended in draws. Man City have drawn more matches this season than everyone except Stoke, and combined with the suspension for Adebayor the draw is offering a good bet for tomorrow.

Draw @ 3.3

• Premier League - Blackburn Rovers v Chelsea [SkyBet] 16:00

Chelsea have won their last 5 clashes with Blackburn. Rovers have their fair share of injury worries too including an injury for Paul Robinson which massively adds to their woes, making this our safe bet for the day.

Chelsea @ 1.5

Friday, 19 March 2010

Saturday 20th March

• IPL - Rajasthan Royals v Kolkata Knight Riders [bet365] 10:30

Chris Gayle is one of the most fierce batsman in the world. Once he gets going he is truly devastating. Yet his 20-20 record would suggest otherwise, with a top score of just 44. However, fresh from the series against Zimbabwe where he took the Man of the Series honours you would be mad to bet against him.

Chris Gayle top batsman @ 4.00

• IPL - Mumbai Indians v Royal Challengers Bangalore [sportingbet] 14:30

Mumbai have been very impressive so far, regularly racking up a score of 200+. While Bangalore have had a couple of wins, they have been against relatively weak bowling attacks. Mumbai are favourites for this clash, and at odds of 1.72 it represents a good value bet.

Mumbai @ 1.72

Friday 19th

• Super League – Leeds v Hull KR [William Hill] 20:00

Hull KR have not won at Headingley in Super League, although have usually presented a stern challenge to the Leeds side while falling away in the last quarter. Both teams will be looking for a reaction from last weeks defeats, especially Hull KR who failed to score & threw away the lead in the second half against Wakefield. With Leeds being hit by injuries this season this may represent Hull KR's best chance to break that jynx. However with Hull KR being given a 12 pt start on the handicap that looks a much better bet.

Hull KR (+12) @ 1.91

• Super League – Hull FC v Bradford [William Hill] 20:00

Hull FC have started the season well, where as Bradford have been very hit & miss, able to put in a good 40 minute performance but not sustain it for the full match. As always Bradford will depend on the playmaking ability of Matt Orford, but this week he will come up against one of the only players in Super League capable of matching him in Sean Long. Bradford showed great defence in the first half last week against Warrington but were warn down in the second half. WIth Hull possessing a big forward pack expect a similar result, a tight first half followed by points in the second.

Hull (-6) @ 1.8

Results Wednesday 17th March

Out of the 2 tips for the 17th we got 1 right and 1 wrong, but overall we were profitable.

As predicted Carroll scored for Newcastle, and then he scored again for good measure. Stuttgart were unable to score against Barcelona unfortunately which seemed like a tough task. We were slightly hampered by poor odds though.

Profit levels for today were 5%. So for example, £50 bets on each of our tips would have resulted in a £5 profit overall.

Wednesday 17th

• Champions League – Barcelona v Stuttgart [Ladbrokes] 19:45

As expected Barcelona are heavy favourites for this match, leaving very few good value bets available, unless you expect a shock. However Barcelona have never been the best defensively, and with Stuttgart knowing they have to score while Barcelona seem unlikely to change their instincts, both teams to score looks a good bet. If any additional persuasion is needed, Stuttgart have scored in their last 14 matches, including in the first leg.

Both teams to score @ 1.9

• Championship – Newcastle v Scunthorpe [Bet 365] 19:45

Another match where the home team are heavy favourites, however Newcastle did lose at Scunthorpe earlier in the season, so maybe not as clear-cut as it first seems. Newcastle always have the ability to score, and have a wealth of players able to put the ball in the back of the net. Peter Lovenkrands would have to be a favourite given current form, although Andy Carroll offers slightly better value.

Andy Carroll (any time) @ 2.1

Results Tuesday 16th March

Results for our tips on Tues 16th March bets are in. We had an excellent strike rate of 75% wins on our 4 tips for today. Villa beat Wigan 2-1 with James Milner scoring the winner, while Inter Milan beat Chelsea to go through to the quarter finals of the Champions league.

Profit levels are at 108.75% for all tips on this day. So for example £50 bets on all our tips, a total stake of £200, would have resulted in profit of £217.50

So all in all an excellent day for the Bet Spotters. More tips to come in the next few days including IPL, rugby and more football...

Tuesday 16th

• Premiership – Wigan v Aston Villa [Ladbrokes] 19:45

Wigan conceded 4, without reply, away to Bolton at the weekend, although they are a different proposition at home, with wins against Chelsea & Liverpool this season. Villa are coming off a creditable draw away to Stoke. It is difficult to pick a winner here but with Wigan looking weak at the back the odds are looking good for over 2.5 goals.

Over 2.5 goals @ 2.25

Despite the recent upturn in John Carew’s performances, the form player in the Villa side has to be James Milner. With Milner also taking his sides penalties, hes always an interesting bet to score.

James Milner (any time) @ 4.0

• Champions League – Chelsea v Inter Milan [Ladbrokes] 19:45

Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge with his Inter Milan team holding a 1 goal advantage from the first leg. The match tonight is tough to call, taking into account Chelsea’s excellent home record it is hard to see them losing at home. However we all know Mourinho will set up his team to protect the lead they currently have & frustrate the home team, while looking for a chance on the break. Expect a tight, cagey game, but I can’t see Chelsea keeping a clean sheet.

Inter (to qualify) @ 2.1

• Championship – Reading v QPR [Bet 365] 20:00
Reading are the form team of the Championship and this is mostly based on the upturn in their home form, and they have been scoring goals for fun recently. QPR are a different team under Neil Warnock, a man who know how to manage a team in this division and I expect them to be tough to beat while retaining their attacking potential.

Over 2.5 goals @ 1.95
